Process management

Effectively increase process quality with process optimization

Improve the processes in your company with customized solutions

Production, logistics and the supply chain are always closely interwoven in companies. Numerous processes are interlinked and interdependent. The complexity of these connections makes it very difficult to identify errors and problems in the processes at an early stage, to localize them precisely and also to rectify them.

The more diverse the products, the more complex the production processes and logistical requirements, the more time-consuming it becomes to control and maintain process quality. The organizational structures of a company can also mean that different process stages are the responsibility of different people who may also work in different departments. All of this further increases the lack of transparency.

Numerous factors can play a decisive role in this:

  • Lack of process monitoring
If there are no or too few options for monitoring and controlling the flow of processes, it is not only difficult to notice quality deviations in good time – it is also much more complicated to find the specific problem areas.
  • Outdated technology
If your systems and technologies are no longer state of the art, this can lead to a higher error rate and generally affect the quality of your processes – through failures, malfunctions and in other ways.
  • Disruptive factors in the supply chain
If, for whatever reason, there are supply bottlenecks or your suppliers are not reliable, this can quickly disrupt your processes. Not to mention inferior components that also call into question the reliability of your own work.

Check and improve process quality

To ensure that your value chains are and remain truly efficient and effective, it is therefore important to review them regularly and adjust them if necessary, i.e. to systematically optimize processes. However, efficiency cannot be the only criterion: Be aware that efforts to increase efficiency can, under certain circumstances, worsen the quality of your processes and ultimately your products. There is always a tension between efficiency and quality.

Problems with process quality can also arise when you integrate new technologies, systems or machines into existing processes. This is where process optimization and quality management must be applied at many points: Interfaces to the new systems, optimal transitions and correct use play a major role.

Above all, adequate training is then of great importance. Regardless of whether there have been any major changes, it is important that your employees receive regular training so that they can carry out the processes correctly and comply with all the required quality standards.

Set your sights on clear goals

The permanent and sustainable improvement of your process quality is not an end in itself, but has goals that go beyond the processes. For process optimization, it is important that you clearly describe the objectives of your measures. This may include these objectives in particular:

  • Your processes should not collapse in the event of external or internal disruptions – so make sure you develop reliably resilient processes.
  • The quality of your products has absolute priority – maintaining this should therefore be an important goal of your processes.
  • Problems within your processes should be identified as early as possible; it is therefore important that you create warning methods that allow you to take countermeasures quickly.

How to create transparent, efficient and resilient processes

Permanently efficient and resilient business processes are crucial to maintaining the quality of your work and being able to supply your customers reliably. In other words, it is a question of competitiveness.

We are happy to offer you a proposal that will enable you to exploit the optimization potential in your processes and at the same time prepare you for future changes in the long term and sustainably. A detailed analysis of your consulting needs in advance is of course part of the process before we take your process management to a new level together with you.

Important components of our method for process analysis and process optimization include process mining and supply chain network design.

Process mining for full transparency and control for optimization

We use the analytical power of process mining to gain an all-round insight into your current processes. This allows us to first identify errors, disruptive factors and quality deviations and then decide individually how the processes can be optimized – whether through automation or other measures that increase efficiency or reduce human error, for example.

We combine technical know-how with our experience of the operational processes of many different customers and use this as a basis for proposing customized solutions in operations, even for very specific processes in production and logistics.

Supply chain network design for transparent, efficient and resilient processes

In order to make the processes in your complex value chain network visible, we rely on the supply chain network design model. With this analytical approach to network planning, we can comprehensively, holistically and quantitatively evaluate – and redesign – your business processes and how they are embedded in the entire value creation network.

We use advanced software technology and advanced analytics to gain differentiated insights into the complex conditions of your networks and infrastructure. One method is a so-called “digital twin“, a digital image of your supply chain. This enables us to carry out simulations – such predictive analyses provide further insights that increase process quality.

The right technology for optimum process quality

Which systems (e.g. WMS, ERP, TMS) are best suited to support your existing or new processes in the long term requires a detailed and holistic analysis. Unlike many system providers who only offer purely technical support during implementation, we take a holistic approach to ensure that the systems in your company can actually fulfill their tasks.

For example, we support the entire ERP selection and implementation process and help all departments to implement and sustainably live the new processes. During implementation, we form the link (or sometimes the “interpreter”) between your specialist departments and the system provider.

Because we want you to be able to get the full potential out of the new system. That’s why it’s important to us to adapt your processes, develop structures and organizations – and above all, that means involving your employees right from the start. We look forward to accompanying you through these changes.
